Private Bus Crash on NH-30 Leaves Nine Dead, 20 Injured in Madhya Pradesh
The death toll from a private bus accident in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, has risen to nine after three more victims succumbed to their injuries, police confirmed on Sunday. The bus, en route from Prayagraj to Nagpur via Rewa, collided with a stationary stone-laden truck around 11 p.m. on National Highway 30, approximately 25 km from Maihar.
Initially, six deaths were reported, but the toll increased after more passengers died in the hospital. Among the deceased was a four-year-old boy, all victims being male. Approximately 20 others sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals in Rewa and Maihar.
According to Maihar Superintendent of Police, Sudhir Agrawal, the bus was likely speeding at the time of the crash. Rescue teams used gas cutters and heavy machinery to access the wreckage and extricate passengers. The rescue operation was completed by 2 a.m. Sunday.
The investigation is going on by the police to know the exact cause for the accident.
